‘Fingering Johanna’ is a kinetic sculpture constructed from LEGO Technic components and a pneumatic mechanism. Pressing a pump concealed within the labia minora activates a structure that engulfs a finger. Through cynical humour, the work examines the treatment of women as sexual objects. The repetitive, mechanised action evokes penetration while reducing the complexity of female sexual pleasure to a single, passive bodily function.
